Dash defeat Courage 4-1 in NWSL’s fall series
(AP) – Kristie Mewis had a goal and three assists and the Houston Dash beat the North Carolina Courage 4-1 in the National Women’s Soccer League fall series Sunday night. After Lynn Williams scored for the Courage to avoid the shutout, Shae Groom scored the final Dash goal in the 83rd minute. The Dash (2-1-0), who hadn’t ever defeated the Courage, close the fall series next week against the Orlando Pride in Kissimmee, Florida. BBVA Stadium to reopen to some fans for Dynamo, Dash home games
HOUSTON BBVA Stadium announced a limited number of fans will soon be able to attend Houston Dynamo, Dash home games, according to a press release. This reopening plan, which has been approved by the city of Houston, Major League Soccer and the National Womens Soccer League, marks the first time a major league sports stadium has reopened to some fans. The Dash is scheduled to play on Sept. 26 at BBVA Stadium against the Orlando Pride. BBVA Stadium is implementing policy changes and safety enhancements to protect fans, players and employees' health. The team also outlined that seating will be limited to the upper seating bowl at BBVA Stadium.
Houston Dynamo & Dash hosts food collection drive for Hurricane Laura victims
Houstons two professional soccer teams are hosting a food drive to assist Hurricane Laura victims. The Houston Dash and Houston Dynamo are collecting water, diapers and non-perishable food items Saturday at BBVA Stadium. The food drive started at 9am and runs to 3pm at the south end of the Stadium near the intersection of Emancipation Avenue and Walker Street. The soccer teams are collecting supplies donated by Houstonians which will then head to the Houston Food Bank. The food bank will disperse the items to Hurricane Laura victims in southeast Texas, specifically Port Arthur and Beaumont.
Houston Dash to celebrate championship win with drive-by parade Thursday
HOUSTON Houston Dash is inviting fans to celebrate its National Womens Soccer League (NWSL) Challenge Cup title win during a drive-by parade on Thursday at BBVA Stadium. Typically, when a Houston team wins a championship, they are celebrated with a parade in H-Town. But, with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the team was forced to come up with an alternative celebration. RELATED: Houston Dash land in Houston celebrating championship winDash players and coaches, all of whom have undergone a rigorous coronavirus testing protocol, will gather on a stage in the parking lot south of BBVA Stadium for a socially distanced celebration, allowing fans to drive by to congratulate the team. The parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the south end of BBVA stadium, near the intersection of Walker Street and Emancipation Avenue.

Most who follow soccer said the Houston Dash, though a scrappy bunch, didnt stand much of a chance against the Chicago Red Stars. The trophy the ladies hoisted as they arrived in Houston would suggest otherwise. Houston plays a big part in my life, said Rachel Daly, who was named tournament MVP. It was a team effort.Most championship teams have a parade and media tour with fans, but with a pandemic, that will have to shift. The Dash say they are potentially planning something; a drive through parade, or other innovative ways to safely thank their fans.

HOUSTON – Former Houston Dash soccer star Kealia Ohai is out as grand marshal of the Downtown Rodeo Parade, but it appears it’s due to her trade to Chicago and not any issue with the Rodeo organization. Meet the new grand marshals:Ben Dickerson, 1957 scholar, FFA Scholarship Dickerson was the first Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo scholarship recipient in 1957. He received his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and his doctorate from Louisiana State University. He is a retired U.S. Army Colonel and currently serves as director of Clinical Operations for Ranch Hand Rescue Human and Animal Sanctuary. Yuselmy Garza, 2010, Metropolitan Scholarship & 2013 Achievement Scholarship Garza currently serves as a project manager at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

HOUSTON – The Houston Dash have traded soccer star Kealia Ohai to Chicago. Ohai leaves Houston after six seasons with the Dash in which she made 114 appearances and started 108 times. “I want to thank the entire Houston organization and the wonderful fans for my last 6 years as a Dash player,” Ohai said. Naughton joins Houston after being a key part of Chicago’s backline throughout their 2019 NWSL season run. With this transaction, the Dash now have 19 players on their active roster ahead of the 2020 NWSL season.
