HOUSTON โ€“ Here in Houston, itโ€™s safe to say most of us would like to spend less time sitting in a car. Now, with bike trails becoming even more connected, our cityโ€™s bikeshare program โ€“ BCycle โ€“ is booming. โ€œCurrently we have 121 BCycle stations, 800 bikes, 100 e-bikes and more on the way.โ€The growing number of bikes and stations is a result of growing demand. Unlocking a bike only takes about a minute using the kiosk, or just a few seconds using the BCycle app. For more information on Houston BCycle, click here.

HOUSTON โ€“ Drivers in the Midtown neighborhood are seeing a lot more green as a new bike lane is about to open in the area, and itโ€™s the first of many coming to Space City in the new year. โ€œWe know a lot of people are already biking in Houston, and a lot more want to bike in Houston, but they donโ€™t have a safe way to do it,โ€ said Ian Hlavacek, an engineer with Houston Public Works. โ€œAlways make sure that youโ€™re yielding to pedestrians and bicyclists who are coming into conflict with cars,โ€ Eccles said. Go around, if you can, and donโ€™t go into the bike lane.โ€Crews are expected to later install traffic lights that will help control the cycling traffic. The Gray Street bike lane is expected to be completed in March.
