HPD: 5 men injured, 1 killed in shooting at car wash
HOUSTON โ Five men were injured and one was killed late Friday in a shooting at a car wash in southwest Houston, according to the Houston Police Department. At approximately 10 p.m., officers were dispatched to the car wash, located in the 8700 block of Beechnut Street near S Gessner Road, in reference to a shooting. Inside was one Hispanic man and three other unknown men who opened fire at the group before fleeing the scene. The victim who was grazed on the head was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition and is expected to survive, said Willkens. The men had been transported from the scene via private vehicle.
Prayer vigil held for tow truck driver killed after carjacking
HOUSTON โ Friends, family and loved ones of a beloved Houston tow truck driver, Curtis Martin, held two prayer vigils Saturday to remember him. The driver passed away Friday after an attempted tow truck jacking, according to Houston police. Investigators said Martin was dropping off a repossessed car with his tow truck in southwest Houston on Friday when he noticed his truck being driven away. Weโre a brotherhood because weโre in this tow truck business together.โMore than 15 wrecker trucks filled a parking lot near the intersection. Leading the prayer was Pastor Joel Hernandez, who was the first tow truck driver on scene the day Martin died.
