Here is the group joining Johnson as first time eligible players:Players eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame for the first time in 2022 include DeMarcus Ware, Devin Hester, Steve Smith Sr., Robert Mathis, Andre Johnson, Vince Wilfork, Anquan Boldin. Andre Johnson 1,06212. Andre Johnson 14,18512. That brings me to the only real negative for Andre Johnson, which is that he only played in four playoff games his whole career, That's not really his fault, and again, if Calvin Johnson getting in on the first ballot is any indication, the voters shouldn't hold team performance against Andre Johnson.

He was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in 2005, won the Roberto Clemente Award in 2007 and his No. He was inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame in 2001 and the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in 2003. Four of these five are actual Hall of Famers in their sport, and the other one (Johnson) has a decent chance with the Pro Football Hall of Fame. This is also a Hall of Fame group whose legacies, ironically, include heated Hall of Fame candidacy discussionsAs mentioned above, four of these five inductees are actual members of their one sport's Hall of Fame, but it wasn't easy.

HOUSTON – The Houston Texans are in the midst of controversy over the current hiring process and other issues that have quarterback Deshaun Watson unhappy with the organization. Texans legendary receiver Andre Johnson has strong connections to the current Texans roster. Tuesday, Johnson broke his silence and sent a tweet saying that Watson should stand his ground. Texans Announce Committee That Will Find the Next Head Coach and GM
In the midst of a lost 4-8 season, the search for a new general manager and new head coach has begun, and having found the most elusive asset in the sport — franchise quarterback, Deshaun Watson — it's imperative they cease burning wasted daylight on Watson's career and get him a GM and head coach deserving of his elite traits. Dungy eventually got his Super Bowl as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts in 2006. Significantly, he is the only player in franchise history to play for all three full time head coaches in the history of the organization — Dom Capers, Gary Kubiak, and Bill O'Brien. His opinions on what to look for in a head coach would be fascinating to hear. JIMMY JOHNSON, former Super Bowl winning head coach, current FOX analystIf you're looking for a template for what the Texans should be seeking in a head coach, the Dallas Cowboy version of Jimmy Johnson might be the favorite.
houstonpress.comMy Dream Selection Committee For Houston Texans Coach and GM
Andre Johnson should be one of the former players with whom the Texans consult in their search for a new head coach. Also, firing O'Brien early in the season means the team is giving itself plenty of runway to find its next head coach and GM. So it begs the question — what would your "dream team" of ad hoc committee members look like, if you were trying to hire the best head coach and the best general manager for the Houston Texans? Parcells is known for hiring great assistants who weren't "yes men", many of whom went on to great success as head coaches. As a former head coach in the NBA, he has made numerous hiring decisions before, and as a Houston Texans fan, I'm guessing he cares deeply about the organization getting these calls right.
houstonpress.comFour Houston Texans Seasons That Deserve "The Last Dance" Treatment
The soon to be award-winning, ten-part documentary The Last Dance finished up last week with parts nine and ten wrapping up the series. To bring The Last Dance concept back around locally, what Houston Texan seasons would be worthy of a multipart documentary series? I have four seasons in mind:2010 season (6-10 record)This was the first season that the Texans really went into a year with expectations from the outside. 2016 season (9-7 record)This is the only season on my short list in which the Texans were over .500 for the year. Osweiler was retired from football before the end of what would have been his original four-year contract with the Texans.
houstonpress.comFour Things Bill O'Brien Ruined With the DeAndre Hopkins Trade
@DeAndreHopkins Deshaun Watson (@deshaunwatson) March 17, 2020As expected, a classy sentiment from Watson, who refrained from expressing any frustration toward Bill O'Brien in his respects to Hopkins. Hopkins' numbers on a pregame basis, trend right along side Johnson's, except in touchdowns, where Hopkins has a massive advantage. We were probably four seasons away from seeing Hopkins surpass Johnson in all of these counting stats, and now it won't matter. We wont be able to enjoy Hopkins being named All Decade for the 2010sThe All-Decade team for the 2010s should be getting named sometime soon. We wont get a Hopkins Ring of Honor ceremonyTo this point, there are only two members of the Houston Texans' Ring of Honor.

houstonpress.comNFL Playoffs, Divisional Round: Chiefs 51, Texans 31, Season Over Four Winners, Four Losers
There was a dream NFL playoff scenario for Houston in play heading into this weekend of divisional round action. Unfortunately, this would all change in horrific fashion in the second quarter, which we will discuss in about three paragraphs. Second quarter special teamsOK, we gave the Texans their props for a stellar first quarter of special teams. That ended quickly in the second quarter. It took Deshaun Watson pointing this out to O'Brien, and O'Brien using a timeout to go for it.
houstonpress.comFour Thoughts on DeAndre Hopkins' First Team All Pro Honors
Even the undrafted Foster was a first team All Pro in his first full season, while it took Hopkins five seasons to get there. Hopkins also owns the second-most first-team selections in team history behind Watt (five). Hopkins became just the third player in NFL history to post over 600 receptions, 8,500 receiving yards and 50 receiving touchdowns in his first seven seasons. The race for "most first team All Pro nods" between Watt and Hopkins should be fun. Beyond those two, it's hard to find someone on the roster who will get even close to five first team All Pro selections.
