Officials said people should stay indoors, close all doors and windows and turn off heating or cooling systems.

Pasadena police said in a Facebook post that Teague Elementary school and Tegeler Career Center were placed on lockdown because of the incident.

Vance Mitchell, a police spokesman, said roads were reopened about 11:25 a.m. and the shelter order was lifted.

Mitchell said the incident stemmed from a construction crew that hit a gas line while they were working.
