Crash causes nearly 2-hour delay on U.S. 290 inbound

HOUSTON – A major crash Thursday morning slowed traffic to a crawl on the inbound lanes of U.S. Highway 290.

The crash involving several vehicles was reported about 5:30 a.m. at Mangum Road on the eastbound side of the highway, which is also called the Northwest Freeway.

Real-time traffic maps showed traffic was backed up to near Huffmeister Road on the eastbound side of the highway.

According to KPRC Channel 2 traffic reporter Jennifer Reyna, a commute of nearly two hours is being reported from Barker Cypress Road to the 610 Loop.

The delays were affecting drivers from Cypress, Copperfield, Blackhorse, Hearthstone and Tomball.

Traffic was heavy on alternate routes, as well.
