HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Eric Pleasant appeared Monday morning in court on charges of murdering and placing a man in a plastic container at a northwest Harris County motel, according to court documents.
Witnesses at the Champions Lodge Motel in the 4700 block of FM 1960 said they saw Pleasant, 34, leaving a motel room and pushing a container with the remains of a man inside.
"He was asking another dude to help him with the tote," a witness said.
Deputies said Pleasant and the man fought earlier and Pleasant pulled out a gun and shot and killed the man inside a motel room.
Witnesses said they were shaken up to hear that a murder was reported at the motel.
"My next-door neighbor asked me,' Did you hear any gunshots?' and I said, 'No, I didn't hear any gunshots.' She said, 'I think something is going to happen around here tonight,'" said Casandra Whittington.
Investigators later found the body of a man wrapped in a blanket inside the container.
"I did see the dude. He had the green tote, like a green-looking tote. I won't put nothing past him. Maybe he was doing his laundry too, but when I came back out to check on my laundry, he was asking another dude to help him with the tote," Whittington said.
Just hours after investigators found the body, deputies went door to door talking to neighbors.
One man said he saw Pleasant and the victim get into some sort of argument a few days earlier.
"It's had me shaken up because I wouldn't expect the same two dudes that I saw walk in and out of this hotel every single day end up doing something like that. It's just strange," Demarcus Washington said.
KPRC 2 caught Pleasant waving to our cameras from a stretcher shortly after he was taken into custody.
Pleasant admitted to police that he shot the victim after they got into an argument, police said.
Pleasant was denied bond Monday morning in court after the judge learned that he admitted to the crime, according to court documents.
