The American Red Cross has five shelters in the Houston area to help residents affected by flooding.
The shelters are located at:
- Jersey Village Baptist Church, 16518 Jersey Drive, Jersey Village
- South County Community Center, 2235 Lake Robbins Road, Spring
- First United Methodist Church in Conroe, 4308 West Davis, Conroe
- Brookshire Civic Center, 4010 4th St., Brookshire
- Wharton Jr. High School, 1120 N. Rusk St., Wharton
- New Light Christian Center, 1535 Greensmark Drive, Houston, Texas 77067
The shelters will be open 24 hours a day through Sunday.
Residents who need assistance can also visit a bulk distribution center.

- Jewish Community Center (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.), 5601 N. Braeswood Blvd., Houston
- Humble Acres First Baptist Church (1 p.m. – 7 p.m.), 19901 Townsen Blvd., Humble
- Brookshire Civic Community Center (10 a.m. – 7 p.m.), 4705 5th St., Brookshire
- First Presbyterian Church (10 a.m. – 7 p.m.), 1602 John Knox St., Wharton

Anyone evacuating to a Red Cross shelter should bring prescriptions and emergency medications; food that meets unusual dietary requirements; identification and important personal documents; extra clothing, towels, hygiene supplies and other comfort items; supplies needed for children and infants, such as diapers, formula and toys; and special items for family members who are elderly or disabled.
Public health regulations do not permit pets in shelters.
