Red Cross shelters and distribution sites available to flood victims

The American Red Cross has five shelters in the Houston area to help residents affected by flooding.

The shelters are located at:

  • Jersey Village Baptist Church, 16518 Jersey Drive, Jersey Village
  • South County Community Center, 2235 Lake Robbins Road, Spring
  • First United Methodist Church in Conroe, 4308 West Davis, Conroe
  • Brookshire Civic Center, 4010 4th St., Brookshire
  • Wharton Jr. High School, 1120 N. Rusk St., Wharton
  • New Light Christian Center, 1535 Greensmark Drive, Houston, Texas 77067

The shelters will be open 24 hours a day through Sunday.

Residents who need assistance can also visit a bulk distribution center.

  • New Light Church – Community Center (10 a.m. – 7 p.m.), 7317 E Houston Road, Houston
  • Jewish Community Center  (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.), 5601 N. Braeswood Blvd., Houston
  • Humble Acres First Baptist Church (1 p.m. – 7 p.m.), 19901 Townsen Blvd., Humble
  • Brookshire Civic Community Center (10 a.m. – 7 p.m.), 4705 5th St., Brookshire
  • First Presbyterian Church (10 a.m. – 7 p.m.), 1602 John Knox St., Wharton

Anyone evacuating to a Red Cross shelter should bring prescriptions and emergency medications; food that meets unusual dietary requirements; identification and important personal documents; extra clothing, towels, hygiene supplies and other comfort items; supplies needed for children and infants, such as diapers, formula and toys; and special items for family members who are elderly or disabled.

Public health regulations do not permit pets in shelters.
