HOUSTON – It's a popular brunch destination in Montrose, with a legendary buffet. But Baba Yega on Grant Street ran into some issues with health inspectors this week.
The ice machine was contaminated with brown and black slime. The restaurant had to toss out 1,200 pounds of ice.
There were more ice machine issues at Pei Wei on Waugh Drive near West Gray. This time, the slime was yellow and black, and 100 pounds of ice was thrown out.
At Mala Sichuan on the 1200 block of Westheimer, 500 pounds of ice was contaminated by slime. The ice machine had to be quarantined.
An employee wasn't wearing gloves while slicing hamburger buns at Buffburger on Wirt Road.
That's a major violation, which according to inspectors was corrected immediately.
La Madeleine on Kingwood Drive was cited for fresh rodent droppings on the floor, in storage areas and where food is prepped.
There were also holes in the wall and ceilings.
