Local students return home after being stranded in D.C. snowfall

HOUSTON – A group of high school students returned to Houston Tuesday after being stuck in the massive snow storm that hit the East Coast last weekend.

Five students from St. Agnes High School arrived at Bush Intercontinental Airport Tuesday morning from Washington, D.C., where they had been visiting for a march when the blizzard hit Saturday.

They were among two groups from St. Agnes stuck in Washington, D.C. The blizzard also forced students from Incarnate Word Academy and Katy ISD to remain in our nation's capital until flights were available for them to return.

Students from St. Agnes visited Washington, D.C., to participate in a Right for Life march. They arrived Wednesday and were supposed to leave Sunday.

"It was cold and wet but so much fun," said Bailey Tipton, a senior at St. Agnes.

The students said they went sledding, and enjoyed the weather. Parents were happy for their return. Most of them followed their daughter's experience through phone calls and video messages.

"I'm glad she got to experience a good snow storm. It was a great experience for her," said Kate Tipton, Bailey's mother.
