Everything you need to know about early voting for the November 5 election

HOUSTON – Early voting for the Nov. 5 election begins Monday, Oct. 21 and ends Friday, Nov. 1.

Voters can cast a ballot at any location in their county of registration.

Eligible voters can also apply for a mail-in ballot, but they must send in an application to the Harris County Clerk’s Office by October 25. Those ballots must be postmarked by 7 p.m. on Election Day and must be received in the Harris County Clerk’s Office Elections Department by 5 p.m. on the next business day after Election Day. Voters must be registered and must also present a valid form of identification at the polls.

The seven forms of approved photo identification are:

  • Texas Driver’s License issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS);
  • Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS;
  • Texas Personal Identification Card issued by DPS;
  • Texas Handgun License issued by DPS;
  • United States Military Identification Card containing the person's photograph;
  • United States Citizenship Certificate containing the person's photograph; and
  • United States Passport (book or card)
