Other amenities include a private collection of over 350 art pieces on display publicly, a state-of-the-art fitness facility, a resort-style pool, a craft cocktail bar and Tonight & Tomorrow, the hotel’s full-service restaurant serving seasonal cuisine. The largest spa in Texas is opening inside The Houstonian in February
HOUSTON – As 2020 has been a stressful year, Houstonians could use some R & R at The Houstonian’s soon-to-be largest spa. According to CultureMap and a news release, Trellis Spa underwent a “multi-million dollar” renovation and is set to become the largest spa in not only Houston but also in Texas, at more than 20,000 square feet. The spa will feature 6,500 square feet of soaking pools, art and gardens, built to bring inspiration from the different cultures all over the world, a news release said. Trellis will open additional services including the “Touchless Therapy” beginning Spring 2021 using equipment such as the Gharieni, also known as the “Rolls Royce” of spa equipment, according to a news release. Trellis Spa will open in February 2021.
‘Everybody who came across him just loved him’: Family remembers Houston teen electrocuted in swimming pool
HOUSTON – The family of Khaleel Reynolds experienced an emotional day for as they laid the 15-year-old boy to rest. “The last night we spent together, the last thing we did was pray,” said his mother Angelica Luna. Reynolds, who died after being electrocuted in a Houston hotel pool, was a star athlete with a bright future. “Everybody who came across him just loved him and there was a lot that shouldn’t have happened,” said Luna. The pool at North Villa Hotel where Reynolds died was not supposed to be open, KPRC 2 previously reported.
Family hold candlelight vigil to remember 15-year-old that was electrocuted while swimming in pool
Family and friends came together Saturday night to hold a candlelight vigil for 15-year-old Khaleel Reynolds. He died after he was electrocuted while swimming in a North Villa Hotel swimming pool. The company reapplied in December of that year but was again denied a permit to open the pool. Reynold’s aunt Teresa Aviles said the family now wants the hotel and pool to be shut down permanently. A GoFundMe account has been set up by Reynolds’ family members.
Furniture resale shop closing to public: Get high-end furniture on the cheap before it’s too late
HOUSTON – Since 2004, Southwest Surplus has sold second-hand hotel furniture to Houstonians on the North Freeway near Gulf Bank. Owner Phil Winterton sold the property and was given 30 days to clear out the 50,000 square foot warehouse and 20 tractor-trailers full of furniture and accessories. Closing time has finally come and the business will close to the public on Sunday. Many things, like TVs, have sold out, but you can still find chairs, sofas, some mini-fridges and other items still for sale.
