Four-Star 2022 recruit Evan Stewart reopens recruitment
The Texas Longhorns have lost a huge commitment out of Frisco Liberty's Class of 2022 recruit Evan Stewart. The dead period was extended in an attempt to slow the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). "Being a top recruit in the nation is a blessing, but I'm not a regular recruit. Stewart plans to take his recruitment period slow from here. Stewart currently has over 35 offers to include offers from programs like Baylor, Alabama, Auburn, Texas Tech, Tennessee, Oregon, and more.

Houston - Major recruiting news dropped in #txhsfb when nationally ranked recruit Rueben Owns out of El Campo High School committed to the Texas Longhorns. Owens is the first commit for new head coach Steve Sarkisian in the 2023 Class, but when he arrives in Austin he will join Jaydon Blue, the No. Blue committed to the Longhorns earlier this month and welcomed Owens to the family on social media. While we have made measured progress during the past several years under Tom Herman’s leadership, Chris has recommended to the university president, Jay Hartzell, that UT make a coaching change to get us on track to achieving our ambitious goals. “President Hartzell and the chair of our Board of Regents, Kevin Eltife, concur with this recommendation and have approved the change. We thank Coach Herman for his service and dedication to our student-athletes, our program and our university.”Prior to his stint as the head football coach at the University of Texas, Herman served as the head football coach at the University of Houston from 2015 to 2016.
Texas RBs pile up 311 yards, 6 TDs, clobber K-State 69-31
(AP) – Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson combined for 311 rushing yards and six touchdowns and Texas beat Kansas State 69-31 on Saturday afternoon. Robinson scored on runs of 12, 30 and 75 yards Saturday. “I knew it would take time to learn to get a feel for the game,” Robinson said. “Credit to Texas because they were ready to play today,” Kansas State coach Chris Klieman said. “I’m excited about that and for our players to send them out with another winning season,” Herman said.
Max Duggan and TCU stun No. 9 Longhorns again 33-31
(AP) – TCU quarterback Max Duggan ran for the go-ahead score with 4 minutes left and the Horned Frogs' defense made it stand with a goal-line fumble recovery to stun No. 9 Texas 33-31 Saturday in a game that had 26 penalties and ended when TCU took a safety as time ran out. TCU (1-1, 1-1 Big 12) is now 7-2 against Texas since joining the Big 12 in 2012. The takeawayTCU: Duggan’s play gives TCU hope the Horned Frogs may be able to compete for the Big 12 title. Ehlinger leads No. 14 Texas romp over UTEP 59-3
14 Texas rolled to a 59-3 season-opening win over UTEP Saturday night. Ehlinger’s final touchdown pass came on a 6-yard toss to walk-on Kai Money in the final seconds of the first half. Texas' original schedule had the Longhorns visiting defending national champion LSU this weekend, in a rematch of a 2019 classic. Some Texas athletes had demanded the school drop the song because of its history involving minstrel shows and actors in blackface decades ago. But they were overpowered at the line of scrimmage and overwhelmed by Texas' speed while Longhorns receivers zipped through and around the UTEP secondary.

Recap: Longhorns defeat Red Raiders 49-24
The Longhorns came into this game 6-5, hoping to secure a win to finish the season after a month of football that certainly failed to meet the standards of this Texas Longhorns program. The ‘Horns avoided an upset and defeated the Red Raiders by a score of 49-24. It appeared as if Texas Longhorns defense would not be able stop this Texas Tech offense led by quarterback Jett Duffey, but the Longhorn offense kept them in the game in the first half. Despite the defensive miscues throughout the year, the Longhorns have lived and died by the play of their quarterback. Ehlinger showed his superstar potential with this toss between two defenders for a touchdown to freshman Jake Smith, who also made a phenomenal grab on the play.

While these two teams are certainly the favorites to square off again in the conference championship at the end of the season, the Texas Longhorns know better than anyone that there are no guarantees in football. When asked about the hype surrounding this LSU team, Texas defensive coordinator Todd Orlando reassured the media that Texas' focus was on their own preparation and said, "It's all about us." Texas got the best of LSU in that 2003 Cotton Bowl match-up, which at the time was a top-notch New Year's Day bowl game. Texas finished 11-2 that season and LSU went on to win the National Championship the following year with Saban. When asked about quarterback Burrow, Texas defensive coordinator Orlando said Burrow reminds him "a lot of our guy," in reference to Ehlinger.
