San Jacinto College offers adult learners chance to finish with ‘Last Step Scholarship’
Adult learners who had to put their educational goal on hold because of COVID-19, a family issue, or for other reasons, can now take that last step and complete their certificate or degree with tuition, books and class materials covered at San Jacinto College with the Last Step Scholarship. Thanks to a generous anonymous donor, they can move into a good-paying position and the career of their dreams.
Houston Rodeo announces $14.1M in scholarships for 2021 educational commitment
Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo announced Tuesday the approval of a $21,691,500 educational commitment to support Texas youth and statewide educational programs in 2021. According to a news release, a majority of the funds will be awarded through more than 800 scholarships valued at $14.1 million. In November, officials announced the 2021 season will mainly focus on the Junior Show and select Youth Show events, aligning with its mission of supporting Texas youth. [RELATED: Plans for 2021 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo announced]Recipients of educational program grants include the Houston Symphony, Texas Wildlife Association Foundation as well as other Texas organizations and institutions. Funds awarded to the graduate assistantship programs will be received by 11 universities in Texas including Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M and Texas Tech among others.
Valedictorian with perfect attendance since Pre-K awarded more than $430K in scholarships
Not only did the New York teen earn her title as valedictorian, but she was awarded more than $430,000 in scholarships, ABC7 reports. The graduating senior from Nellie A. Thornton High School and the Performing & Visual Arts Magnet Program has also achieved perfect attendance. According to the report, Palmer has never missed a day of school in her entire education career from Pre-K through high school. “In terms of my perfect attendance, it wasn’t something that I sought out. I knew that showing up to school every day was important because even missing one day can set you back.
KPRC 2 Senior Scholarship: Meet our 2020 recipients
HOUSTON – In 2020, KPRC 2 and Texas Mattress Makers surprised 20 deserving high school seniors with scholarships. All students selected for scholarships were nominated by their high schools. Twenty $2,500 scholarships were awarded to students from all areas in the Houston greater area. Each student was surprised by our anchors and reporters on campus or via Zoom.
