Accused Texas school shooter to remain at state hospital
HOUSTON (AP) — A student accused of fatally shooting 10 people at a Texas high school in 2018 will spend up to another 12 months at a state mental health facility as doctors say he remains incompetent to stand trial, his attorney said Tuesday. Dimitrios Pagourtzis, 20, has been receiving mental health treatment at the North Texas State Hospital in Vernon since early December 2019. But doctors in March 2020 determined he was still incompetent and he was ordered to stay another 12 months, said Nick Poehl, one of Pagourtzis’ attorneys. So, we just reupped for up to another 12 months,” Poehl said. Poehl said he could not discuss specific details of Pagourtzis’ treatment due to privacy issues.

It's a similar story that unfolded at school- when Sarceno asked for help from an English teacher to edit his college essay. The help he finally asked for, and his own determination, helped him get a full ride scholarship to Bates College in Maine. The Santa Fe community also rallied around Sarceno and bought him a new phone and car. Sarceno wants to eventually go to graduate school at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and become an engineer.

SANTA FE, Texas – Cynthia Tisdale, a substitute teacher at Santa Fe High School was killed Friday in the shooting at the school, according to her family. Leia Olinde said Tisdale, her aunt was like a mother to her and helped her shop for wedding dresses last year. "I've never met a woman who loved her family so much." Tisdale's house was the center of family gatherings and she loved cooking Thanksgiving dinner and decorating her house, Olinde said. Olinde's fiance, Eric Sanders, said of Tisdale that "words don't explain her lust for life and the joy she got from helping people."
