A puppy, now named Cody, is starting 2025 with a loving family, but his journey began in a storm drain in Pearland.
Houston Humane Society says a couple heard his cries and called the Pearland Fire Department, who sprang into action. Firefighters worked tirelessly to free the frightened terrier mix pup, ultimately rescuing him from the dangerous situation.

Once rescued, Cody was handed over to the Pearland Police Department Animal Services. Though he sustained minor injuries, the team provided warmth and comfort before transferring him to the Houston Humane Society Animal Clinic. There, Cody received medical treatment to ensure he was healthy and ready for the next step in his journey.

Houston Humane Society held Cody for 72 hours, hoping his original family would come forward. Unfortunately, no one claimed him, and Cody became eligible for adoption. The Humane Society emphasized the importance of microchipping pets, a service their clinic offers seven days a week.
