SPRING, Texas – In a special Spring Independent School District board meeting, the board unanimously voted to approve Superintendent Dr. Rodney Watson's proposal to terminate the contracts of three administrators.
"I just hope that this puts us back on track to bring Spring ISD back to the top where it was and belongs," former Spring ISD employee Annette Gessel said.
Eight administrators have already resigned from Spring ISD during an investigation into various scheduling and transcript errors.
Watson said this was caused by a series of errors committed by district leaders.
"The board is now moving forward," said Sheleah Reed, Spring ISD communications coordinator. "From what they saw and heard from the superintendent today was how they were involved and that's what they had to evaluate."
According to Spring ISD, an investigation was launched by the Texas Education Agency in January, surrounding the end-of-year exams.
Spring ISD realized there were problems with 395 senior transcripts at Dekaney High School, 300 at Spring High School and 400 at Westfield High School. This could prevent many seniors from graduating in May because they didn't take all required courses or were given credit for courses they didn't take.
"The district has to make some changes, and the district is evaluating exactly how these people were involved, what their relationship is, how did they allow these things to happen," Reed said. "We will continue the investigation. It is not over."
The next step will be notifying the board members. They will be able to appeal their decision.
