HOUSTON – Houston police are hoping a newly released sketch will help them identify a suspect wanted in a case of indecency with a child.
The incident happened in the 1600 block of Nasa Parkway around 3:30 p.m. on November 16.
Police said the young girl, 6, was at Space Center Houston in the Angry Birds play area when she was approached by the man who then knelt next to her and touched her inappropriately.
"I wouldn't want him around my kids," said Officer E. Hanson of the Houston Police Department.
She said the man wore a blue, plaid shirt. The officer said the man was with a little boy, but did not know the girl he touched.
Officer Hanson said, "What he did, I'm sure he's done it in the past or will do it again. It's a very public place. NASA's space center is a huge facility that everybody uses for family get togethers. So it's in everybody's best interest to find out who he is and get him identified."
The suspect is described only as a white, clean shaven man with a slight belly and sandy blond or light brown hair.
Space Center Houston told Local 2 they are cooperating with police and with the victim's family, and that they did their own investigation and shared those results with police. SCH said surveillance video is not being released.
A center spokesperson says additional security measures are in place. It is now reviewing all safety and security procedures.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to call the HPD Juvenile Division at 713-731-5335 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
