Boat fire sends plume of smoke into skies over Clear Lake Shores
CLEAR LAKE SHORES, Texas – A boat fire sent a large plume of smoke into the skies Friday over Clear Lake Shores. The fire was reported about 2 p.m. at the Portofino Harbour Marina and Yacht Club on Portofino Plaza, just across State Highway 146 from the Kemah Boardwalk. Officials said 911 callers reported hearing an explosion just before the fire. A Life Flight helicopter was called to the scene. This developing story will be updated.

Body of Kemah Boardwalk employee who jumped into water recovered
KEMAH, Texas - Rescuers on Thursday recovered the body of a Kemah Boardwalk employee who jumped into the water near Galveston Bay to help a distressed kayaker. What happenedOfficials said Riddle jumped into the water after seeing a kayak tip over and the kayaker appear to be struggling. Riddle is from Deer Park and is a maintenance worker for the Kemah Boardwalk. Part of the Kemah Boardwalk was closed while the search took place. Funeral arrangementsRiddle's family said his funeral will be held Sept. 12 at Deer Park First Baptist Church.
