Graham Media Group, the local media division of Graham Holdings Company (NYSE: GHC), announced today that Phil Lane has been named Vice President and General Manager of KPRC 2, the NBC broadcast affiliate television station in Houston.

It is with an extremely heavy heart that we share that a beloved figure of the KPRC 2 family has passed away. Richard "Rusty" Knight worked for the station from 1973 through 2012 and, even in retirement, kept close ties to the station.

HOUSTON โ The KPRC 2 team received a whopping 30 Lone Star EMMY nominations Friday, including in the prestigious โOverall Excellence," โNews Excellence" and โCommunity Service,โ categories. Our station has received the most nominations of all the TV stations in Houston and has the second-most nominations in the state. The Lone Star Chapter is part of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and describes itself as โthe standard-bearers for excellence in the television broadcasting industry and the gatekeepers of the prestigious regional EMMY Awards in Texas.โ It serves 19 television markets in Texas and includes members from TV-related fields including news and non-news broadcasting, according to its website. A virtual award ceremony is set for November.

Lisa Hernandez is joining the KPRC 2 News Today team. She will co-anchor with Owen Conflenti and join Britta Merwin, Amy Davis, Haley Hernandez (no relation) and Anavid Reyes in getting Houstonians ready for the day. โI always believed Lisa was meant to be on KPRC 2 and we are thrilled that she was excited to join our team,โ said KPRC 2 Vice President/General Manager Jerry Martin. Hernandez is a familiar face in Houston; she served as a KHOU anchor for eight years. Hernandez moved to Houston in 2011.
KPRC sends off Bill Balleza with bittersweet retirement party
HOUSTON โ The KPRC family came together on Friday to celebrate longtime anchor Bill Balleza who is retiring after 49 years of service. KPRC 2 kicks off 4th annual Houston Habitat Home build day
As with any proper build, the 4th annual KPRC Habitat Home kickoff began with a safety brief. Despite some wind and some rain, nail by nail, board by board, walls came together as daylight made its morning appearance. It began at a time when Houston Habitat for Humanity executive director Allison Hay said the need was growing. Habitat for Humanity Houston's Superbuild 51 has several more homes' worth of walls to construct and you can be a part of it.
