HFD: 16 units damaged in fire at southwest Houston apartment complex
HOUSTON โ Flames ripped through an apartment building in southwest Houston overnight. The fire was reported around 1 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 10000 block of Spice Lane, near the Sam Houston Parkway. When fire crews arrived, they observed heavy fire and smoke coming from an apartment building at the complex. Firefighters mounted an aggressive attack on the fire to ensure it did not spread to neighboring buildings. 16 apartment units sustained some combination of fire, smoke and water damage, said HFD District Chief James Pennington.

HCFMO: โUnattended warming fireโ in metal barrel causes Channelview mobile home fire
CHANNELVIEW, Texas โ Flames ripped through a mobile home in Channelview overnight. The fire was reported around 3:45 Sunday at home in the 16500 block of Pecan Street, near Lakeside Drive. Both the mobile homeโs occupants made it out of the house, though they each sustained some injuries. At some point after exiting the structure, a man went back inside in search of the woman and suffered smoke inhalation. Investigators with the Harris County Fire Marshalโs Office said an โunattended warming fireโ inside a metal barrel on the front porch caused the house fire.
HFD:Northeast Houston home sustains major damage in blaze
HOUSTON, Texas โ Flames ripped through a home in northeast Houston overnight. At approximately 10:40 p.m. Saturday, fire crews were dispatched to a residence in the 8700 block of Leycrest Road, near Fitzhugh Street. Firefighters attacked the blaze but it took considerable time, nearly two hours, to knock down the fire. Several hazards impeded their progress, including the heavy fire load and downed power lines lying in the yard, said District Chief Joseph Leggio with the Houston Fire Department. Arson investigators are on scene working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

On arrival, units observed heavy fire and smoke coming from a unit on the second floor of an apartment building. Firefighters attacked the blaze and contained to the second floor. No one was inside the apartment unit when the fire broke out, Vatuna said.
Houston police officers climb onto roof to rescue resident from burning apartment building
HOUSTON, Texas โ Flames ripped through a building at an apartment complex in southwest Houston early Saturday morning. As the flagged vehicle pulled into a nearby apartment complex, located in the 8800 block of S Braeswood Blvd, officers observed heavy fire coming from an apartment unit in one of the buildings. Two officers got onto the roof of the building and entered an apartment unit through a balcony to help a resident trapped by the fire. Officers successfully evacuated the residents inside the building on fire and those in surrounding buildings at the apartment complex, HPD Lt. R. Willkens said. A resident has reason to believe someone may have targeted them, Lt. Willkens said.

HOUSTON, Texas โ Flames ripped through a home in Houstonโs Northside Village neighborhood overnight. At around 1:50 a.m. Saturday, fire crews were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Sylvester Road, near Fulton Street. The home sustained major damage in the fire, Houston Fire Department District Chief Ryan Schindewolf said. โPretty much a total loss inside, but the structure still is intact,โ Schindewolf said. Schindewolf said the blaze started inside the home.

The firefighters covered themselves on the ground with the emergency shelters that look like space blankets if they are in imminent danger from flames. On Sept. 8, 14 firefighters deployed emergency shelters as flames overtook them and destroyed the fire station they were defending in the Los Padres National Forest. He was the fourth person killed by the blaze that has spread to neighboring Tehama County. The Glass and Zogg fires are among nearly 30 wildfires burning in California.
