The family of an 11-year-old boy who died last week in Conroe during power outages while Texas endured a freezing winter storm is suing Entergy Texas and operators of the stateโ€™s power grid for a total of $100 million. The Electric Reliability Council of Texas, which is being sued by the family, operates the decentralized electrical grid system. The Texas grid is not governed by federal regulations. The immunity would not prevent the family from suing Entergy Texas, however. Entergy Texas and ERCOT declined to comment on the ongoing lawsuit from Pinedaโ€™s family.

SCAM ALERT: Customers receiving false calls from scammers pretending to be Entergy employees

HOUSTON โ€“ Customers are being warned by local law enforcement after a scam targets Entergy. The Jefferson County Sheriffโ€™s Office and other local law enforcement agencies are alerting residents after receiving multiple calls regarding the phone scam. They also have automated answering machines that sound like Entergy, officials said. The scammers will ask you for a number, your account number, your social security number or Tax ID number. Dog pepper-sprayed by meter reader for barking, owner claims

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Briony Scott believes her 10-pound pup, Brighton, was unnecessarily pepper-sprayed by a meter reader. The man responsible is an Olameter employee. Scott said what makes her furious is that the meter reader didnt bother to notify her about the pepper spray. KPRC contacted Entergy about the incident and obtained this statement:It was an Olameter employee who sprayed the dog. Entergy does have policies to make sure their employees are safe, but it was not an Entergy employee who pepper-sprayed the dog.

Shenandoah Council budgets for energy issues, plans to file complaint against Entergy for outages

During budget talks the morning of Aug. 10, the Shenandoah City Council discussed frequent electrical outages in the city and what can be done to limit the number in the future. The council considered two options for replacing overhead lines in parts of the city. Peart said by doing so the city would be providing more reliable energy and theoretically reducing the number of outages to those neighborhoods. By having a dual feed, Peart said Entergy explained outages would be much shorter. Council Member Michael McLeod said the outages are ultimately Entergys responsibility.

Beaumont-based energy provider Entergy issued a warning and tips Aug. 1 after receiving reports of scammers targeting its customers. The scammer reportedly asks the customer to give a credit card number right then, buy a prepaid gift card or electronically transfer the funds. It is important to remember that Entergy never demands immediate payment from customers over the phone or shows up at your door demanding money on the spot, the press release states. You shouldnt give your personal information to strangers.If a call sounds suspicious, customers are encouraged to hang up and call 800-368-3749 to speak with an Entergy customer service representative. Legitimate ways of paying an Entergy bill include online, by phone, walk-in payment centers, mail or bank draft payments.
