Should Martin Maldonado re-sign with the Houston Astros? Search for backup catcher, relievers underway, and more
GM Meetings in Scottsdale had to wrap up a day early thanks to widespread...uhh...gastrointestinal distress, as was reported over there. In the meantime, GM Dana Brown spoke with assorted media present and revealed some nuggets about the Astrosโ strategy this offseason.
Search for new Astros manager begins as Dusty Baker announces retirement
The Astros, as you know, were on the cusp of another trip to the World Series which would have been their third straight but those plans were derailed by the Texas Rangers when they came back to Houston and took down the Astros in the ALCS winning game 6 and again in game 7 that closed the door on the 2023 season. The big news after their elimination of course was Dusty Baker announcing his retirement after 26 years as a Major League manager.
Your H-Town traffic breakdown!
Welcome back, Houston! This week has been quite busy in terms of traffic. Itโs all about safety this week, as students head back to class plus major West Loop closure this weekend
Thousands of students started their fall semester in these last few days. Happy back-to-school season to Klein, Galena and Fort Bend ISD among many many others. Iโm sure youโve definitely seen the traffic pattern change in your morning drive. It is BUSY out there. I remember looking at Spring Cypress Road near Klein Cain High School and it was dark red. Drivers, now that itโs getting a bit more congested out there, youโve got to leave with extra time in the morning. We have so much going on early in the morning in our neighborhoods with kids headed back to class. School buses are running, kids riding their bikes or walking to school...the last thing you want to do is to rush out the door and speed down your neighborhood streets. Letโs do our best to keep our students safe out there!
The button in your car that can help you save money!
Happy Friday-eve, my friends! Iโve wondered about the benefits for this button for as long as Iโve been driving. If youโre looking for it, youโll find it, but itโs often the thing you likely look at and arenโt sure what to do with it. Our amazing Digital Special Projects Manager describes this button perfectly: โ...The recirculation button is the button on your dash that sports a car outline with a U-shaped arrow inside of it. This button stops air flow from outside your vehicle so your air conditioner recirculates the air inside of the vehicle thatโs already cool or on its way to being cool.โ
Buckle up ladies and gents, the massive Southwest Freeway closure is happening this weekend!

Yeah, when we say massive, we meant it. Youโve got to prepare now, because it ainโt gonna be fun.
