Exciting week for Houston: Memorial Land Bridge Tunnel opens!

It was the week many Houstonians were looking forward to. On Monday, the eastbound tunnel of the Memorial Land Bridge officially opened to traffic.

One KPRC 2 viewer, Vanessa Novosel, shared her first experience driving through the tunnel saying this: “...A beautiful day jeepin through tunnels, our 30 year’s anniversary…jeepin surprise!”

So many folks enjoyed the drive Monday afternoon and soon, they’ll be able to enjoy hundreds of new acres connecting north and south Memorial Park! This recent opening certainly marks a new milestone in the park’s transformation. Go here to read more about the land bridges.

Also worth noting, have you guys checked out the beautiful bluebonnets on the side of our Texas highways? They are painting a beautiful sea of blue, gorgeous scenery for all spring roadies! If you’re making your way out to get the perfect shot of you and your loved ones surrounded by they blue flowers, keep in mind safety! If you pull over on the side the of the highway, be careful and make sure you’re aware of your surroundings. Also, folks need to use caution and common sense if they come across a snake in the wild. Rattlesnakes are most active at dawn and dusk during spring. They prefer temperatures between 73 and 84 degrees. Just some food for thought, as you plan your drive out the country to snap that pic! A lot of our viewers have already taken part in all the fun, click here for a look at their pictures this year.
