A prescription without a pharmacy, just a bike!

How does taking a bike ride instead of a pill to better your heart health sound?

Well, the next time you get a check-up, that could be a reality! Some doctors around town can now give you a prescription to ride a bike, instead of heading to the pharmacy for some pill. Of course, your doctor has to to evaluate you in order to determine if you’re a right candidate to bypass the medication ---but even before THAT, the provider has to join the program! The new program is called Bike Rx and it came into fruition about a year ago. The American Heart Association and Houston BCycle partnered with Legacy Community Health to give people the opportunity to bike for better heart health.
