YEAR OF THE DEER: Hanson hopes to take Deer Park to new heights
Hanson was the 2022 District MVP as a setter, hitter? The 6-footer is super-dynamic and will surpass 2,000 career assists and 1,000 career kills in the Fall. She also stars on Skylineโs top team during the offseason, where she travels across the country with some of Houstonโs best to battle the nationโs best.

It was only two seasons ago when coach Chris Rupp led Deer Park to a 2017 state title. The Deer reflect their industrial, blue-collar town with a tremendous work ethic and toughness. Potts was also a stud as the QB of the Deer Park football team and was an all-district selection. Potts has one of the best in the State of Texas behind the plate in sophomore Dillon Lester. Since 2010, Deer Park has won two state championships (2012, 2014), been to the state tournament four times, and made the Regional Finals five times. The Deer are that program that you just never count-out. Amy Vidal-Bush comes over from College Station High School to take over the program.
