Prairie View A&M University golf program receives $40,000 boost from PGA Tour star

A special vaccine pre-registration for residents 75 and older in Austin, Burleson, Fayette, Grimes, Waller, and Washington counties is now closed. The goal was to set as many appointments for Tuesday, Feb. 9, as possible. Those not scheduled for Tuesday will remain on the registration list for the next allotment of vaccines. There will be three attempts to reach each registration. Once submitted, those who pre-registered will be contacted by an agent, in the order the form was received, to complete your registration and set an appointment time as vaccines become available.

Public meetings to address Cypress Creek water quality concerns in Harris County
The public is invited to attend local meetings covering water quality issues affecting the Cypress Creek watershed spanning Harris and Waller counties. These will be two of the first public meetings to discuss the development of a watershed protection program with the Cypress Creek Watershed Partnership. According to officials, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has reported Cypress Creek failed to meet state water quality standards for contact recreation, with elevated levels of fecal waste being the primary area of concern. The TCEQ and the Houston-Galveston Area Council will hold two public meetings with the same agenda on Tuesday, July 23:1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Richard & Meg Weekley Community Center, 8440 Greenhouse Road, Cypress5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Barbara Bush Branch Library, 6817 Cypresswood Drive, SpringWaterways are impacted by everything that happens on the land that drains to them, H-GAC Senior Planner Justin Bower said in a press release. 12-year-old girl found submerged in water, four others hurt when truck veers off road
WALLER, Texas - A 12-year-old girl is brain dead after a major car accident in northwest Harris County near Waller late last week. According to authorities, the accident happened around 4:40 a.m. Friday on Knebel Road near Stokes Road. A 12-year-old girl who was in the truck was ejected and was found submerged in water, deputies said. According to authorities, two victims -- a 15-year-old female front seat center passenger and a 15-year-old male right front seat passenger -- also had to be transported via LifeFlight. The driver and the back left passenger, who was a 21-year-old man, was driving to Memorial Hermann in The Woodlands.
