Residents spot coyotes in Houston-area neighborhood
HOUSTON โ Neighbors arm themselves after coyotes spotted along the Westchase walking trail. Several coyotes have been spotted along a popular walking trail in the Westchase area. AdTexas Parks and Wildlife officials say coyotes live all around us and they are not going anywhere. โYouโre going to raise your arms up, youโre going to make yourself look larger, youโre going to yell youโre going to speak assertively,โ said Simon to help scare off coyotes. Simon says can also take a picture of the coyote sighting and let Texas Parks and Wildlife officials know where it is.
Expect traffic delays: Police say deadly crash causes gas leak in southwest Houston

Officers said the crash happened on Richmond Avenue near Hillcroft Street when a driver struck a tree along the road. Drivers can expect delays in both directions of Richmond Avenue if they normally take that route. This is a developing story.
Man killed after gun accidentally goes off in west Houston, police say
HOUSTON โ A 28-year-old man is dead after a gun accidentally went off inside a residence in west Houston Wednesday, police said. Officers said it happened just before 9 p.m. in the 15100 block of Richmond Avenue. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported him to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police say based on surveillance footage, it appears the gun discharged after the man sat it down on a table or counter. According to investigators, two other people who were inside the home at the time are cooperating with investigators.

Nigerian restaurant Jollof Rice King opens doors on Richmond
HOUSTON โ Husband-and-wife team Tiffaney and Avo Owadale finally opened their new restaurant on Richmond Avenue on Oct. 13, bringing Nigerian foods to Houston. According to their website, the chefs at Jollof Rice King strive to perfect the dish with West African flair. Jollof Rice Kingโs menu has a variety of small rice plates served with plantains and moi moi, a Nigerian bean pudding cake. Co-owner Tiffaney Owadale told Eater Houston she is excited to bring something new to Houstonโs dining scene. Jollof Rice King is open for takeout only at 3833 Richmond Avenue.
HPD: Man shot, killed by common-law wife during domestic dispute

Arriving units located a man with a gunshot wound. Police said the victimโs common law spouse told officers that she shot the man because she feared for her safety and that of her 2-year-old son. Investigators are talking to the woman to determine exactly what happened leading up to the shooting. Both the boy, and the family dog were transferred to the care of relatives.
Man shot to death as son watched in suspected robbery in southwest Houston, police says
HOUSTON โ A man is dead after what appears to be a robbery gone wrong, according to the Houston Police Department. The police say an older Hispanic man was found dead on the sidewalk on Fairdale Lane near Richmond Avenue and Hillcroft Street around 6 p.m. Saturday. Investigators say the victim was walking with his son when they were approached by three men. Police believe the man was robbed and shot, and then the men fled the area. โWe have three Hispanic male suspects that fled the scene in a light-colored silver, tan sedan,โ detective Cory Arrington said.
