HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Police say a 15-year-old stole a truck and led police on a chase on Houston's east side. "Two men were moving furniture into their truck, and they left the keys in the ignition while the car was running. At that time, we had a teenager jump in the car and steal the car," Houston Police Department Assistant Chief Wendy Baimbridge said.Officers told ABC13 the teen was driving at 70 miles an hour when he ran a red light and crashed into a school bus at the intersection of I-10 and Mercury.There were no students on the bus from Galena Park ISD, but the driver and attendant were taken to the hospital as a precaution.The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital in critical condition. "There's a reason that the driving age is 16. As children mature everything changes," Harris County Chief of Vehicular Crimes sean Teare said.As for the teen who crashed into the bus, he could face multiple charges.

I-10 traffic moving in both directions at San Jacinto Bridge after 6-day closure
Just after midnight Sept. 19, two of the barges struck the San Jacinto Bridge and became stuck underneath it, officials said. In a statement, TxDOT said:We have begun preliminary set up for reconfiguring the I-10 eastbound bridge to accommodate both westbound and eastbound traffic. However, despite plans to reconfigure traffic, authorities announced Tuesday night that two eastbound lanes were opened to traffic. Authorities worked around the clock in order to get the westbound lanes reopened by the morning commute. As drivers and their passengers waited for the waters to recede, two Houston women went from car to car, offering bottles of water and taquitos to the stranded. The lady with the bag asked if I wanted water or a taquito," Reginald Stidum said. Stidum was stranded on I-10 since about 11 a.m. when torrential rains pooled on the freeway, leaving it impassable. I imagine they live nearby and saw all the cars stranded on the freeway, and found a way to help," he said.
Here's what you need to know about progress being made at San Jacinto Waste Pits
HOUSTON - The San Jacinto Waste Pits are along the portion of the San Jacinto River at I-10 near Channelview. In this case, its whats left of the waste from a 1960s era paper mill. For years, environmental groups, The Harris County Attorneys Office and residents have fought to get the area cleaned up. Concerns about the potential for widespread contamination after Hurricane HarveyTwo years ago, dioxins began showing up in sediment samples around the base of the San Jacinto Waste Pits after Hurricane Harvey swamped our area. As the engineering phase of the project gets underway, The Harris County Attorneys Office tells KPRC 2, it looks like it could be two years before crews start removing the contaminated material from the site.
Heat advisory issued for Houston area
HOUSTON - The first week of school for thousands of Houston-area students will start off on a hot note. The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday for most of Southeast Texas. Temperatures will climb into the mid- and upper 90s for most places, with a heat index between 108 and 112 degrees. It's approaching the Leeward Islands, and is expected to become a Category 1 hurricane as it approaches Puerto Rico later this week. Another system being monitored off the East Coast could become a named system, and doesn't pose any threats to Texas.

KATY, Texas - A family is hoping their dash camera video will help capture a man who broke into their vehicles while they were at dinner at a Chuys Restaurant on I-10. One of those cameras captured the moment a man driving a white Cadillac pulled up in front of her car. The cameras captured the sound of the glass breaking and the car alarm going off. You can see his everything, and I think its awesome that Harris County got his fingerprints off of my freshly new detailed car, Okerholm said. Officials with the office said on there was another car break-in at Chuys on Sunday.
'I thought it was road rage': Witness recalls deadly rush-hour shooting on East Freeway
HOUSTON - A new video shows the aftermath of a deadly shooting on the East Freeway during rush-hour traffic Thursday evening. Police said two vehicles were involved in a crash just before the shooting. One vehicle struck the other vehicle, which then spun out in the middle of the freeway, according to police. Police said at least one person got out of the vehicle that didn't spin out and started firing shots into the other vehicle. Both occupants of the vehicle that spun out, ages 25 and 33, were struck and killed by gunfire, police said.
