HOUSTON โ An officer-involved shooting overnight stemmed from a suspected road rage incident an officer witnessed on the Katy Freeway, according to the Houston Police Department. As he was driving outbound on I-10, east of Fry Road, he witnessed a suspected road rage incident occur. Someone in the suspect vehicle began firing at the officer and the officer returned gunfire. Using the suspect information provided by the off-duty officer, units soon after located a suspect vehicle and detained its occupants. The officerโs vehicle, the suspect vehicle and several other vehicles were struck by gunfire during the incident.

2 suspects in custody after police say assault suspect fled scene leading to chase through Katy area
HOUSTON โ Two suspects are in custody Tuesday afternoon after Houston police responded to a reported assault and one suspect fled the scene in a car. Police chased the woman through the Katy area for about 25 minutes. A man and woman were at the scene, along with two victims who reported that theyโd been pistol-whipped, Lummus said. The man she was with was also taken into custody and faces an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge. Police say when authorities arrived, the male suspect threw the firearm over a fence but authorities have since recovered it.

Intoxicated wrong-way driver causes 18-wheeler to fall onto Downtown Aquarium parking lot, police say
HOUSTON โ The freeway is back open on I-45 N at I-10 Katy southbound after being closed for hours due to a big rig crash Friday, officials said. When they arrived at the scene, they discovered an 18-wheeler hauling charcoal was traveling southbound and rolled over, causing it to fall nearly 30 feet below the freeway. Officials said the big rig landed in the Downtown Aquariumโs restaurant parking lot. According to officers, the 65-year-old driver of the big rig was removed from the vehicle and suffered cuts and bruises. Throughout the investigation, police discovered Carrie Edens, 56, was driving northbound in southbound lanes and had a head-on collision with the 18-wheeler.

Person hit, killed by vehicle while trying to run across I-10 East Freeway
HOUSTON โ A person was hit and killed by a vehicle Friday while trying to run across Interstate 10 in east Houston, police said. The crash was reported about 3:45 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of the East Freeway at Federal Road. According to Houston police, the driver of the vehicle that hit the pedestrian stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. The driver and the driverโs passenger were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Several lanes of the freeway were blocked while investigators were at the scene.

HOUSTON โ An 18-wheeler involved in an accident has multiple lanes blocked on the I-10 Katy Freeway. The 18-wheeler appears to be blocking the westbound lanes on the I-10 Katy Freeway at Blalock. Houston Transtar video showed the first four lanes blocked. Only one lane is being utilized at this time. Police have urged drivers to find an alternate route.
