Ramen shop opening in new Heights development

A new ramen shop will open in Houston’s M-K-T in early April. Rakkan Ramen will offer authentic Japanese cuisine. “Houston has a great food scene and is incredibly diverse,” said Rakkan Ramen franchise owner Chris Lav, on what attracted the brand to Houston. Rakkan Ramen currently operates six locations across the United States, including three locations in Tokyo, Japan. The restaurant is scheduled to open early in April and in Building 5 of M-K-T, located at 600 N Shepherd Dr, Houston TX 77007.

HOUSTON – Many local businesses and organizations have opened food and water distribution sites in the Houston area in the wake of the recent winter storms. Various distribution sites pop up daily, so please keep checking this list if you’re in need. Houston Community College-North Forest CampusTexas State Representative Senfronia Thompson, NACC Disaster Services, Teamsters Union, Houston Community College (HCC)- North Forest campus, HCC Trustee Rhonda Skillern-Jones, Peoples United Summit, and other volunteer groups host water and food distribution in northeast Houston. The organizers will provide food and water for about 1,000 vehicles. Pet owners will receive free pet food, supplies, and information on additional resources such as the Houston Humane Society’s free spay/neuter program.

New Harris County collaboration offers free recovery resources and legal aid for renters

Volunteer attorneys will help tenants determine if they qualify for protection under the CDC guidelines and help those who qualify complete and sign the required declaration on the spot. Additional volunteers will help tenants apply for rental assistance through two new state and local government programs. Tenants facing the possibility of eviction for nonpayment of rent will be able to access the free assistance at three sites in Harris County:Jim Fontana Annex | 14350 Wallisville Rd. Houston TX 77049Harris County Precinct 1 Building | 2727 El CaminoIron Workers Local 84 Apprentice Training Center | 7521 Fauna St. Tenants planning to attend are encouraged to apply for both of these new rental assistance programs as soon as possible, even if they have previously applied for or received other rental assistance.
