The Houston Public Library has announced plans to reopen the Eleanor Freed-Montrose Neighborhood Library in a press release. The announcement comes two weeks after it closed for what was expected to be a relocation effort over safety concerns.

Adams and Dore were among roughly 45 volunteers cited for feeding the homeless outside the public library in March. The judge dismissed their cases since the officers who cited Adams and Dore did not appear in court to testify Thursday morning. Helping the homeless has been their passion for years.

After serving eighteen years as head librarian, Norman became unsatisfied and wanted to continue her educational path. Therefore, Norman returned to school and received her Master of Education degree from Texas Southern University in 1956. Upon completing her Masterโs degree, Norman missed doing what she loved most: being a librarian. KPRC 2 is partnering with Texas Southern University throughout the month of February for a celebration of Houston Black history. She is a junior majoring in Journalism at Texas Southern University.

According to Texas Health and Human Services, libraries may be reopened and operate at 75% occupancy; however, the Houston Public Library (HPL) system remains closed due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. The library system began a phased reopening on June 1, offering curbside pick-up through our HPL TO GO service. Additionally, HPL continues to offer public wifi outside of all its libraries. Mayor Turner to give details on Liftoff Houston Business Plan Competition; $30,000 in prizes available
HOUSTON โ Mayor Turner will announce the launch of Liftoff Houston, the City of Houstonโs annual business plan competition sponsored by Capital One Bank and administered by the Houston Public Library (HPL) and the Office of Business Opportunity (OBO). The plans will be announced at City Hall at 3 p.m.Turner said winners in three categories โ Service, Product and Innovation โ will each receive $10,000 from Capital One Bank. Due to COVID-19 concerns, this year all Liftoff Houston events will be held virtually. The program also includes an Educational Pathway, which provides business education opportunities to all who are interested. Houston Public Library Director Dr. Rhea Brown Lawson, Office of Business Opportunity Director Marsha Murray and Capital One Bank VP of Business Development Mark Boucree will also speak during the press conference.
