VIDEO: Man strikes woman in face several times before stealing purse at bakery shop, shatters window with bat

Warning: Surveillance video of the incident may be disturbing to some.

HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a man wanted in a violent robbery at a southwest Houston bakery shop.

On Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, at around 6:40 a.m., a woman entered a bakery in the 7200 block of Bissonnet.

The woman said she noticed a man acting suspiciously and standing just outside the bakery. She told an employee and decided to wait in the store until the man left.

A short time later, the man walked into the bakery and demanded the woman’s purse. Refusing to give him her purse, she retreated behind the counter, where the suspect followed her. The suspect then forcibly grabbed the woman’s purse while striking her multiple times in the face.

As this was happening, two men walked into the store and reportedly saw what was happening. They threatened to harm the suspect if he didn’t stop hitting the victim.

The suspect then stopped, walked out of the store, and pulled out a bat from a black truck. The employee locked the front door, keeping the suspect from entering, so the suspect began hitting the glass door until it shattered. The suspect then got back into the truck and drove off.

Anyone with information leading up to the charging and/or arrest of any felony suspects may contact Crime Stoppers by calling 713-222-TIPS (8477), submitting an online tip at www.crime-stoppers.org or through the Crime Stoppers mobile app for a cash payment of up to $5,000.
