Activists claim CPS is housing children in unlivable conditions; will fundraise to create more foster facilities
Refrigerators without food, and filthy hotels. These are both conditions local activists say some children across the state are being subjected to while in custody of Child Protective Services. Now, those activists who say the CPS system is overwhelmed are taking matters into their own hands and are asking the public to help them in their mission.

Father, daughter meet for the first time after 50 years
HOUSTON โ It was an emotional reunion for one Tomball, Texas father and his daughter, who were separated at her birth and then came together again after 50 years. Winskiโs daughter, Kerri Beggs, said at the age of 19, she began a quest to find her biological father. Beggs, who now lives in Tucson, Arizona, took a plane to Hobby Airport on Friday, a flight that was delayed. For the first time after a lifetime of missing each other, the father and daughter embraced each other. For the last four months, Iโve been looking forward to this day.โAdded Winski, โSheโs my little girl.
Houston SPCA will reopen adoption center after closing for several months due to pandemic
HOUSTON โ The Houston SPCA will finally reopen its adoption center after closing for seven months due to the coronavirus pandemic. Since March, the Houston SPCA hosted several curbside adoptions and tele-adoptions during the pandemic and shut down. The option for tele-adoption will end Oct. 31. The adoption center will welcome potential adopters on Nov. 2 by appointment only. Houston SPCA says visitation appointments can be booked on Oct. 31 from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. by calling 713-869-7722.

Some families have been kept apart by coronavirus. These families are still waiting to meet
Across the world, families who were on the brink of adopting a child have had their futures together postponed by the coronavirus pandemic. "There's nothing easy about adoption, there's a lot of just every step, you know, kind of not getting our hopes up too much." He said there were "large numbers of families who are ready" to adopt and "thousands of children waiting." Most children are transferred from foster care to new families through a gradual handover and a series of meetings. "Trust is a really, really important part of this process," she said.
