Flood Watch continues for SE Texas through Sunday evening. Here's how much rain we pick up.
Just before midnight through the Overnight, a cluster of rain and a few thunderstorms will move into SE Texas - this round focusing mainly on communities north of Houston. Another line of rain and storms will move in from the NW Sunday morning, arriving in Houston around 6 a.m. and continuing through the late morning. But it's not over; through the afternoon until 7 p.m., SE Texas can expect more waves of showers and embedded storms.
Now that we have the timeline, let's talk about rainfall totals. Most of the area will receive 1 to 3 inches of rain, but if your neighborhood gets caught under a heavy downpour for too long, those totals could be in the range of 4 to 8 inches. Models have not been consistent on location for the highest rainfall totals; anywhere north of I-10 has the best bet at exceeding 3 inches of rain.
A Flood Watch is in effect until Sunday at 7 p.m. for Colorado, Brazos, Burleson, Chambers, Coastal Harris, Grimes, Houston, Inland Harris, Madison, Montgomery, Northern Liberty, Polk, San Jacinto, Southern Liberty, Trinity, Walker, Waller, and Washington counties.
As far as severe weather potential, there could be an isolated strong to severe thunderstorm that could create damaging winds and hail, but the best bet for severe storms will be west from Sealy back through San Antonio.
While better weather is on the horizon for Mother's Day weekend, your safety remains our top priority. Please stay dry, stay safe, and stay alert.
