More rain expected for areas already underwater on Sunday in the Houston area

Heavy rainfall could lead to flooding today into Sunday.

Harris County and counties north of I-10 seeing the highest threat for flooding.
Flood Watch:

The National Weather Service has extended the flood watch for SE Texas through Sunday 7 PM. We have the potential for another 1-3″ of rainfall some areas could pick up closer to 8″ Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Some areas could pick up near 8 inches.

Excessive runoff is creating additional rises in rivers, creeks and streams. Those who live in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action if flooding should develop. Please stay weather aware.

Several rivers are flooding including the Trinity River, San Jacinto River, and Brazos River (Navasota/Normangee). There are other rivers that are flooding too. You can see our stream status below, or check out our Flood Tracker. Avoid parking along streams, rivers and creeks. Never drive around a barrier.

Please be careful with the high water. Not only can you be swept away, but floodwaters also hide dangers that can cause sickness, injury or even death! Do not let children play in floodwaters!

Saturday Night:

Saturday night the atmosphere is bringing in some spotty showers and thunderstorms across SE Texas.

Sunday’s forecast:

We have the potential for two more rounds of thunderstorms Sunday. The first round is expected to move through Sunday morning bringing lightning and heavy downpours.

6 AM Sunday:

Overnight into Sunday morning a line of storms and rain move into SE Texas.

9 AM Sunday:

Morning round begins to wind down with some breaks in the rain around 9 am.

12 PM Sunday:

Rain and thunderstorms continue across SE Texas

The second round will move through Sunday afternoon with rain finally coming to end Sunday night.

6 PM on Sunday

Showers and storms begin to shift south of I-10

9 PM on Sunday

Rain begins to wind down but rain along the coast.

Estimated rainfall totals from now until Sunday 7 PM:

Rainfall totals will be dependent on where the heaviest bands set up but overall most areas could see 1 to 3 " but there will be locally heavier amounts up to 8″ in some spots.

Most areas should pick up 1 to 3 " but there could be locally higher amounts up to 8 inches.
10-Day Forecast:

Next week we head into a hotter weather pattern with our first 90° day of the year expected. There is also the possibility of a cool front moving through Friday. That would bring in dry air (low humidity) and a slightly lower temperature.

Heavy downpours come to an end Sunday night. The new week brings sunshine, the 90s, and high humidity.
