17-year-old killed in shooting in southeast Houston, Houston police say

The shooting happened in the 11400 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard about 3:35 p.m. He was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HOUSTON โ A high-speed chase ended in a fiery explosion after the fleeing driver struck a power pole in southeast Houston, according to the Houston Police Department. Police say the suspect was wanted on a felony family violence charge and caught wind that he was under surveillance by police. Officials say the suspect was a passenger in a blue Toyota Tundra when he kicked the driver out of the car near 3801 Old Spanish Trail and Scott Street. He drove away, initiative a police chase, officials say. First, police say they initiated a pursuit intervention technique (PIT) maneuver but the chase continued for a short time until it ended near West Alabama Street and Live Oak Street.
15-year-old boy shot during drive-by at family park in southeast Houston, police say
HOUSTON โ A 15-year-old boy was hospitalized after he was shot Tuesday night during a drive-by at a family park in southeast Houston, police said. The shooting was reported around 7:30 p.m. at Ingrando Park along Keller Street. Houston police said a white Jeep drive by the park and someone inside fired several shots. Police said one of the bullets struck the teen in the leg. Anyone with information is asked to call the Houston Police Department.
Man accused of fatally shooting other man, kidnapping victimโs girlfriend identified, police say
HOUSTON โ A man is in custody after police said he shot and killed a man and kidnapped the victimโs girlfriend. Neighbors said that Posey, the victim and victimโs girlfriend all know each other. โAt that moment right there, thatโs when I called 911.โSmith said the woman kept shouting at the man while he dragged her saying, โWhy you did it?โโShe just kept saying, โWhy you did it?โ Thatโs all she kept saying,โ Smith said. Officers said Posey was taken into custody and charged with capital murder, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. Authorities are still working to determine the relationship between the victim, his girlfriend and the other man, and what may have led up to the shooting.
Families displaced after fire spreads to several homes in southeast Houston, officials say
HOUSTON โ The American Red Cross is helping families Tuesday night after a fire damaged several homes in southeast Houston. The Houston Fire Department responded to the fire just before 6 p.m. near Avenue C and 76th Street. โShe heard a boom in the back garage apartment,โ HFD Chief Rochas said of the adult female survivor. When we turned the corner, we saw the column of smoke.โA fire captain was transported for observation for heat exhaustion, Rochas said. About a dozen people were displaced and five homes and apartment homes were damaged or destroyed.
