Firefighters are battling a massive blaze at a residential building in Nassau Bay Monday evening. The fire was reported around 3:50 p.m. at Bayfront Towers, located in the 400 block of Lakeside Lane. There are 74 condo units at the complex. Officials estimate approximately 35 percent of the building has sustained damage in the fire. No injuries have been reported, according to the Nassau Bay Police Department.

Officials said Nassau Bay EMS and Nassau Bay PD responded to a report of a deadly overdose, and when they arrived they were informed of the possibility of Fentanyl being present in the apartment. Due to the highly toxic nature of Fentanyl, police said emergency personnel evacuated the apartment and contacted the hazardous material crews. All Nassau Bay personnel at the scene are also being monitored and examined by EMS and HazMat at the scene for any possible exposure, police said.

An argument over noise ended in gunfire early Sunday at a Nassau Bay Hotel, according to authorities. Early Sunday morning, officers with the Nassau Bay Police Department were dispatched to a Hilton Houston hotel, located at 3000 E NASA Pkwy, in reference to a shooting. No one was injured in the incident, according to Nassau Bay police. Upon arrival, officers conducted a search of the hotel and located the man in a hotel room on the third floor. During the search, officers found a firearm in the bushes near the hotel parking garage -- where the man was reportedly seen following the shooting.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas โ A Nassau Bay man was convicted of kicking a law enforcement officer in the face and chest and sentenced to 13 years in prison, the Harris County District Attorneyโs Office announced Friday. A jury convicted Anthony Earl Foreman, 30, on Wednesday of assaulting a peace officer, a second-degree felony. State District Judge Hazel Jones sentenced Foreman following a three-day trial this week, the district attorneyโs office said. Alone in the back seat, he broke the back window of the unit, either by kicking it or head-butting it. Foreman kicked the officer in the chest and the face, the district attorneyโs office said.

NASSAU BAY, Texas โ A Nassau Bay police officer who died in the line of duty last December is being remembered with a building dedication in her honor. Sergeant Kaila Sullivan was a 16-year veteran who was killed while trying to arrest a suspect. She was the first Nassau Bay officer to be killed in the line of duty. On Saturday, her family got to see a once Presbyterian Church-turned-museum become the Kaila M. Sullivan Chapel and Hall. โIt was just overwhelming just that this community has so much love and itโs just all about the community and she loved this community,โ said Sullivanโs widow, Tracey Sullivan.
Man seen carrying 5-gallon can of gasoline toward home of son-in-law he had threatened to kill, police say
Police said they received a call just after 9 a.m. Monday from a man who reported that his father-in-law threatened to kill him. The man accused his father-in-law of saying he was going to go to his home and shoot him, police said. The man also said his father-in-law later said he was going to kill him and blow up his home, police said. Police said the father-in-law was seen getting out his vehicle and walking toward the manโs home with a 5-gallon can of gasoline. Along with the can of gasoline, officers also found the father-in-law to be carrying two loaded handguns, a knife and a set of handcuffs, police said.

HOUSTON โ The man who is accused of killing a Nassau Bay police officer Tuesday night was last seen Wednesday afternoon in Missouri City and is believed to be headed to Louisiana, officials said. Tavores Henderson, 21, was last seen Wednesday afternoon accompanied by a man identified only as โAnthony," officials said. Sunnyside SWAT sceneA Harris County Sheriffโs Office SWAT team found nothing Wednesday morning in the Sunnyside home where the home Henderson was believed to be hiding, officials said in a news conference. Henderson is wanted on a charge of felony murder in connection with the Tuesday night death of Nassau Bay police Sgt. Community activist Quanell X said Hendersonโs family has contacted him and they are working to get Henderson to turn himself in to authorities.
