Houston Marathon runners preparing for cold, chilly temperatures for Sundayโs race
The Houston Marathon is the city of Houstonโs largest single day sporting event with over 250,000 volunteers, spectators, and runners. All those people are impacted by the weather because the races go on rain or shine.

Warm weather heading into the weekend
Winds are turning back onshore and with a southeast breeze moisture is slowly and surely returning to Southeast Texas. Expect a warm and slightly more humid Thursday afternoon. Fog Friday MorningThis surge of moisture and unseasonably warm weather is ahead of a couple cold fronts on the way. The second front next Tuesday will cut temperatures slightly returning seasonable weather, afternoon temperatures in the low 70s, back to Houston for Thanksgiving.
Cold front late this weekend will bring in fall fantastic weather for next week

A cold front on Sunday will usher in chilly mornings and mild afternoons.
Weekend temperatures will bring dangerous heat
The weekend is expected to bring dangerous temperatures to our area. The heat index is hovering over heat advisory territory. Temperatures in the afternoon will be the most dangerous and families need to be prepared. Temperatures on Thursday hit 98 degrees, the highest temperature this year. Next week, temperatures will be in the mid-90s with chances of afternoon showers.
More freezing temps expected in Southeast Texas
HOUSTON โ Southeast Texas residents woke up Wednesday to freezing temperatures, and it will be even colder Thursday morning. Temperatures dipped to 29 degrees in Houston on Wednesday morning, but they're expected to dip even lower on Thursday. Several Southeast Texas counties were under a hard freeze warning. "There's also a small chance of rain on Sunday if those lows hit us in the right spot," Yanez said. Texas Department of Transportation officials are also getting ready for another night of freezing temperatures.
