Despite the uncertainty around the 2020 season, the Lady Eagles managed to muster up their strength and put together a fighting spirit in order to take them right back to where they started. It didn't take long for them to get into the groove of things and the same should be expected for this season.

After fighting all season to prove that they have what it takes to compete at the highest level of Texas high school softball, the Prosper Lady Eagles defeated Denton Guyer in two games during their UIL Regional Quarterfinals matchup. With a sweep over the Wildcats, Prosper moves on to the UIL State Semifinals.

The softball season is nearing the moment Texas high school softball fans have been waiting for: the state tournament. Before we can get to that point, though, the best of the best must make it through the playoffs. Here's a look at the five teams you should be watching in the UIL softball regional finals:
QUARTERFINALS PREVIEW: Flower Mound vs. Prosper
The Flower Mound Jaguars are set to face off against the Prosper Eagles in a 6A quarterfinal match-up that is sure to leave fans satisfied. Flower Mound:Flower Mound comes into the match with a nine game win-streak after topping South Grand Prairie in a 2-1 victory on Tuesday evening. Prosper:Prosper is undefeated on the season with a 24 game win-streak. The Eagles beat a tough Arlington team on Monday by a score of 5-1 to advance to the quarterfinals and don't look to slow down yet. It's going to be tough for Flower Mound to top an undefeated Prosper team that has everything to lose.
DFW Football: Week 11/Week 6 Thursday Quick Looks
As it stands right now, Liberty and Lebanon Trail occupy the third and fourth spots in the district standings, respectively. Both teams' last game were losses to district leader Frisco - Liberty last week; Lebanon Trail two weeks ago. Liberty likes to air things out while Lebanon Trail wants to keep things on the lower end of the scoreboard. Northwest Eaton (4-2, 2-0) vs. Keller (1-4, 0-2)4-6A is a district split between teams undefeated in district play and teams that are winless in district play. Big question: Will Memorial pick up its first district win or will Lovejoy continue its dominance this year.
DFW Football: Week 10/Week 6 Friday Quick Looks
Week 10/Week 6 continues around these parts under the Friday night lights. Guyer had a 20-point win last week over McKinney that still showed some flaws while Prosper eked out a 10-point over a stingy Little Elm team. Prosper has not scored more than 30 points this year but are holding teams to 19 points a game. #5 Frisco (4-0, 2-0) vs. Frisco Liberty (4-1, 2-0)7-5A DII is a district packed with teams off to great starts in 2020, including No. 5 Frisco and Frisco Liberty with combined records of 8-1.

On Saturday, Fallon submitted his resignation from his state Senate seat, saying it will be effective Jan. 4. Minutes after Abbott announced the special election, Springer jumped into the race with Fallon's backing. Early voting for the special election begins Sept. 14.
Texas State Sen. Pat Fallon wins GOP nomination to replace John Ratcliffe on November ballot, becoming Ratcliffe's likely successor

Pat Fallon, R-Prosper, has won the Republican nomination to replace former U.S. Rep. John Ratcliffe, R-Heath, on the November ballot and will likely succeed him. Greg Abbott opted against calling a special election to finish Ratcliffe's term, so the winner in the November election will take office in January to serve a full new term. Fallon's victory means there will be a special election to replace him in Texas Senate District 30, which is safely Republican. The timing of that special election depends on when Fallon vacates the seat, either by resigning early or taking office in January.
