Curfew among โlimited optionsโ that can be used to slow spread of coronavirus, Turner says
HOUSTON โ Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said Monday that a curfew is among the โlimited optionsโ that he has available to slow the spread of coronavirus in the city as officials brace for an increase in cases after Thanksgiving travel. Turner reported an additional 685 COVID-19 cases in the city and a positivity rate of 8.4%, which is slightly lower than last week. The mayor said November was the second busiest month for testing at city-affiliated testing sites since the pandemic began. โIf by chance you see me coming in, Iโm not coming in there for a drink,โ Turner said. He asked business owners to work with city officials in order to ensure that social-distancing and occupancy requirements are observed.
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner responds to Thanksgiving weekend curfew orders in Texas
HOUSTON โ Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner has issued a statement following the curfews issued in Bexar County and in San Antonio. The efforts are due to fears that the Thanksgiving weekend will end in a huge spike of COVID-19 cases, KSAT reported. At this present time, my primary concern is all the contacts that occurred yesterday during Thanksgiving and everything that happened today during Black Friday where everyone is out there shopping,โ Dr. Varon said. Dr. Varon says our focus needs to be on educating others about the deadly virus. The establishments may continue to offer drive-thru, curbside or takeout service after 10 p.m. and resume dine-in service at 6 a.m. during the curfew period.

Houston top doctor says hospitals will be โoverwhelmedโ if we continue this way with COVID-19 spread
HOUSTON โ Houstonโs top doctor Dr. David Persse warned in a news conference Friday that hospitals will soon be โoverwhelmedโ if the area continues its uncontrolled COVID-19 spread. So while most people are walking around saying, โI donโt know what the problem is. I donโt know anyone who is sick. I donโt know anybody who has died, I feel fine.' โWe know that itโs the right thing to do to slow down the spread of this virus,โ he said.
