So when head coach Todd Lowery told the freshman she was going to play middle during a match against Lamar last week, she was shocked. 4 seed heading into this week’s WAC Tournament at New Mexico St. in Las Cruces, N.M. That WAC Tournament was also at New Mexico St. and this is the first time the school has hosted it since. Perris, if you asked her, she probably did everything through club and high school to stay out of the middle, thinking she probably had no chance to play middle in college,” Lowery said.

Katy football heads back to state championship

HOUSTON – Five long years have passed since Katy High School has taken home the state championship trophy. Everybody’s ready to go.”The Davis brothers have taken center stage for the Tigers this season, as Jalen and Seth have led Katy to a score differential of more than 400. Of Hays’ 10 wins, four of them have come within seven points or less. Katy’s one loss was close (24-19 to Katy Tompkins), but all 11 wins have been by two touchdowns or more. “Katy is about winning state championships and that’s what we’re trying to do,” said safety Dalton Johnson.

Katy High School football star kicked off team, now suing to be reinstated

KATY – A star quarterback for Katy High School, who made headlines last year for being caught on camera using a racial slur, is once again off the football team. Now, he is suing Katy ISD to be reinstated. The 19-year-old student was suspended in September after a Katy ISD police and a K-9 found a substance they believed to be marijuana in Bronson’s vehicle during a search of the Katy H.S. But in a letter dated September 28, less than two weeks after the incident, the Katy ISD superintendent Dr. Ken Gregorski appeared to clear McClelland of any wrongdoing. A spokesperson for Katy ISD would not answer questions about the case.

KATY, Texas - A Katy High School quarterback has been stripped of his position as team captain and suspended for two games after he posted a video on social media where he used foul language and a racial slur. The varsity football team is ranked second in Texas. The video shows 17-year-old Bronson McClelland from Thursday night's game using the racial slur and foul language. "During this self-made video, Bronson was speaking to a Hispanic student from Seven Lakes High School. Then a student-athlete from Tompkins High School (who we just played a game against earlier in the evening) obtained the video and uploaded it to his Twitter account.

KATY, Texas – Katy Football’s moving photo of National Guard troops sleeping in a Katy High School hallway has been deleted after the owner of the Twitter account said they received criticism for allowing them to sleep on the floor. The original, now-deleted tweet showed dozens of sleeping National Guard troops sleeping in their fatigues along the Katy school’s red lockers. Katy starts preparation for high school football season

KATY, Texas – A new high school football season begins Aug. 27-Aug. 29 and the Houston area is once again loaded with talent. At Katy High School, the Tigers have a storied history with seven state championships. Katy reached the 6A title game in 2013 and again in 2014 but both ended with emotional losses to Cedar Hill. The Tigers have the talent again to make another run, and KPRC Channel 2 Sports Director Randy McIlvoy has more on the Tigers as they opened workouts Monday.

Katy High School shows support for its football team ahead of state championship

KATY, Texas – Ahead of the 6-A Division II State Championship game, a pep rally was held at Katy High School to make sure the football team had a proper send-off. The football team arrived in fire trucks and the Tigers mascot even arrived by helicopter. "It's a different year and a different team, at the same time, they are a good football team," said Tigers head coach Gary Joseph. "They've had a good football team. "There's no greater place in the United States or in Texas for you to raise your son to play football, there football program is number one," said parent James Phillip.
