HOUSTON – Drivers on Houston’s east side should prepare for a full weekend closure of a stretch of westbound Interstate 10 next week as crews complete asphalt repairs.
The Texas Department of Transportation announced that all westbound lanes of I-10 between Freeport Street and Uvalde Road/Market Street will be closed beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, through 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17.

According to TxDOT, the closure is needed for asphalt repair work.

Westbound I-10: Between Freeport Street and Uvalde Road/Market Street
Closure begins: 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14
Closure ends: 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17
Detour
During the closure, motorists traveling westbound on I-10 will be required to:
Exit at Uvalde Road/Market Street (Exit 779B) to the frontage road.
Continue along the frontage road past Uvalde Road.
Merge back onto the westbound I-10 main lanes.
TxDOT advises drivers to expect delays and consider allowing extra travel time or seeking alternate routes during the weekend closure.
Drivers are encouraged to use caution when traveling through the work zone and follow all posted detour signs.
