THIS Texas city ranks among top 10 in U.S. for biggest income growth, study finds

TEXAS – A new study suggests one Texas city is seeing household incomes rise faster than almost anywhere else in the country.

According to a new analysis from SmartAsset, Lubbock ranked No. 6 nationwide for the largest increase in median household income over the past two years after adjusting for inflation.

The financial technology company analyzed 94 of the nation’s largest cities using the latest U.S. Census Bureau data to determine where household incomes have increased, or declined, after accounting for inflation. Overall, 63 of the 94 cities posted positive income growth.

Lubbock leads Texas

Among the 14 Texas cities included in the study, Lubbock topped the list.

According to SmartAsset:

• Median household income in Lubbock reached $62,360.
• That’s an 11.3% increase over two years after adjusting for inflation.
• About 7% of households in the city earn more than $200,000 annually.
• Arlington also saw income gains

Arlington also recorded growth, though at a slower pace.

The study found the city’s median household income increased 4.4% year over year after adjusting for inflation.
