Woman stabbed, hospitalized after west Houston home invasion

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A woman is in the hospital after a home invasion and stabbing Monday morning in west Houston.

The victim told police she knew her attacker and that man is still on the run.

Just after 7 a.m. Monday, Houston police said neighbors flagged them down and led them to the victim.

She told police that a man had broken into her home in the 10000 block of Mayfield at Shadowdale, stabbed her with a kitchen knife and tried to rape her.

She was able to get away and the attacker left the house. The woman was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Neighbors said the woman has a young son and shares the rented home with her husband and several other men.

"It just seems like there's a lot of people there and somebody got on the wrong side of somebody and somehow the woman got in the middle of it which is sad," neighbor Shelley Garner.

The woman's husband did not want to speak on camera or share many details, but he did say that his wife is doing OK and will survive her injuries.

Police continue to investigate.
