HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- An Humble woman and a Houston man face felony charges for injury to a child stemming from a CPS complaint made in March.Authorities said they received a report that a boy had been placed into a hot shower after receiving a bad grade at school. She said her son leaned down to pick up a basketball and hit the handle of the pot of water with his head when he raised back up, causing the water to fall on the child. Investigators later determined those claims were untrue, according to documents.In an interview with staff at the Children's Assessment Center on Nov. 18, detectives said the victim was at Terrell's house with his mother back in March, when Terrell put him in the shower after he had gotten in trouble at school. The victim told an interviewer Terrell had removed the shower head and pointed the hot water toward him. The boy also said Terrell spanked him and choked him after getting out of the shower.Both Brisby and Terrell have mugshots from previous charges with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

"We have a mechanical bull because we rent it out for different festivities so for all occasions like weddings, birthday parties, festivals," said owner Aurora Meltez. Hurricane Meltez, as the mechanical bull is named, is a dream come true for Aurora and her husband, Rolando. They have been storing the bull at a storage facility in Humble when it's not in use. H&M sets mid-November opening date for Deerbrook Mall location

Hennes and Mauritz Inc., better known as H&M, will open a new store Nov. 14 at 20131 N. Hwy. 1280, Humble, according to a news release from the company. Rankin Road improvement project set to begin in November

The city of Humble and real estate company Jackson-Shaw partnered to fund a project to expand Rankin Road between Hwy. 59 and the Union Pacific Corp. railroad tracks in Humble. The project expands a portion of Rankin Road from a two- to four-lane road and adds a raised median. The project will take six months to complete. TxDOT plans mast arm signal improvement for Deerbrook Mall outlet

The Texas Department of Transportation will soon begin a project to upgrade the mast arm signal at the intersection of FM 1960 East and Denton Road at the Deerbrook Mall in Humble. The improved signal will make the signal heads more visible and optimize traffic flow along the corridor, TxDOT officials said. Similar upgrades are also being completed at seven other intersections across the Greater Houston area, with all eight signals set to be completed in April 2021. TX7, a locally owned apparel and accessories store, is scheduled to open Nov. 1 at 20131 Hwy. 2240, Humble, in the Deerbrook Mall. The store was originally scheduled to open Oct. 1, but the opening was delayed. The store will carry mens and womens clothing, accessories, fragrances, lingerie, footwear, jewelry and novelty gift items.

City of Humble increases property tax rate, plans for the future in FY 2019-20 budget

The city of Humble approved an increased budget for fiscal year 2019-20 to fund mobility and infrastructure improvements. Humble City Council approved the FY 2019-20 budget on Sept. 12 that includes a $113.53 million total operating expenditure for FY 2019-20a 1.7% increase from its $111.62 million budget for FY 2018-19. The city also continued its trend of raising its property tax rate for the fourth year in a row as it plans for the future and attempts to ease its reliance on sales tax revenue. Humble City Council approved a property tax rate of $0.255944 per $100 valuationan 8% increase over the FY 2018-19 tax rate of $0.245572, Humble City Manager Jason Stuebe said. The maximum allowable rate increase will be reduced to 4% in 2020 because of state Senate Bill 2, which limits increases without an election.

Lockwood Road expansion project set to bid in October

HOUSTON - Flooding issues are still ongoing along the East Fork of the San Jacinto River around Humble and Kingwood. Moderate flooding is currently occurring in Huffman, as well from Cedar Bayou. Ask the editor: How is the Northeast Water Purification Plant expansion coming along?

In fall 2017, the city of Houston along with other area water agencies broke ground on the $1.76 billion expansion project of the Northeast Water Purification Plant, at 12630 Water Works Way, Humble. On July 10, Houston City Council approved appropriating roughly $997.8 million to the project. The city of Houston contributed roughly $264.56 million of the total allocated funds, while other regional water authorities contributed the rest. This expansion will increase the number of gallons the plant can pump to 400 million per day by 2025. Phases 1 and 2 will increase production by 320 million gallons of water per day.

Application period to file for seat on Humble City Council ends Aug. 12

The city of Humble is currently accepting applications for Humble City Council, Place 2, which was left vacant after late Council Member Glenn Redmon died July 13 after a battle with leukemia. The city began accepting applications for the position July 30, and the deadline to file for the position is 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12. Following the filing period deadline, council members will review the applications and nominate a candidate for vote at a later date, according to the application notice from the city of Humble. Humble City Council approves agreement for Rankin Road project, appoints new public works director

A longtime employee of the city of Humble was appointed to be the new public works director at the Humble City Council meeting Aug. 8. Council members unanimously voted to appoint Assistant Director of Public Works Mark Arnold to replace former Public Works Director Barry Brock, who recently retired. Arnold has worked for the city of Humble for 34 years and served as assistant director to Brock for 25 years. Hes been not only my mentor but my friend.Humble City Council also unanimously approved a development agreement with real estate company Jackson-Shawthe developer of the Parc 59 industrial spaceto fund improvements to Rankin Road. The design and engineering phase of the Rankin project is roughly 65% complete, and the city intends to put the project up to bid by spring 2020, Arnold said.
