A $617 million investment is coming to Harris County as NRG Energy plans a new 455-megawatt natural gas plant at its Greens Bayou facility — a project state leaders say will strengthen the Texas power grid and support continued growth in the Houston area.

A community was left in shock, and friends and family were in mourning after three teenage girls were killed in a murder suicide in Galena Park over the weekend.

Four people, including three teenage girls, were shot and killed in an apparent murder-suicide at a home in Galena Park late Saturday, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.

Officials with Galena Park ISD are warning students and parents after a “stranger danger” situation that recently happened.

Galena Park ISD is working to provide additional emotional support for students as they return to class for the new school year.

HOUSTON – Several Houston-area school districts are responding after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced the lifting of business capacity limits and the state’s mask mandate. Under the executive order, which went into effect March 10, Abbott added that public schools may operate under the standard health protocols issued by the Texas Education Agency.
