HOUSTON โ Several Houston-area school districts are responding after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced the lifting of business capacity limits and the stateโs mask mandate. Under the executive order, which went into effect March 10, Abbott added that public schools may operate under the standard health protocols issued by the Texas Education Agency. Houston-area school districts have issued statements on how they plan to move forward. This list will be updated as new information is received.

Conroe ISDConroe Independent School District will resume classes Monday. Deer Park ISDDeer Park ISD students will return to school Monday, Feb. 22. Humble ISDHumble ISD plans to resume school on Monday, Feb. 22, for all students, both on-campus and virtual students. District staff is in the process of reaching out to families to connect them with supports and information available through the Act. Royal ISDRoyal ISD students will resume school Tuesday.
Galena Park ISD employees surprised with $1,000 stipend during pandemic
GALENA PARK, Texas โ The emotional strain from the coronavirus pandemic on educators has been overwhelming. Instead of telling the faculty and staff in Galena Park Independent School District what a great job theyโve done, the school board of trustees and superintendent decided to show them. As a token of their appreciation for their dedication and commitment during the pandemic, trustees approved the administrationโs recommendation at Mondayโs board meeting.
