The Jacksonville sheriff says the gunman who killed three people at a Dollar General used to work at a dollar store and had stopped in at one before a security guardโs presence apparently led him elsewhere.
Food giveaway organized after Jimโs Supermarket burns down
When Jimโs Supermarket burned down on Friday, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee said she knew it would hurt families here. She helped organize a food giveaway with the Houston Food Bank and is working to secure federal funding to help Jimโs rebuild. Residents told KPRC 2 the food giveaway will help them for a little bit because Jimโs is now gone. Karen Hunyh, whose family owns Jimโs Supermarket, was at the giveaway with other family members. Congresswoman Lee said to help, she is calling on food truck owners to come set up shop near Jimโs to help community members with food availability.
Family Dollarโs alarm, strobe light terrorizing Houston neighborhood for a week
HOUSTON โ Police are checking into an alarm glitch at a northwest Houston business. Every night for the past week, Maria Aguirre said sirens and strobe lights are coming from the Family Dollar on Bingle Road. โWeโve been tortured for a week,โ Aguirre said. The story has changed every day.โAguirre said she has also contacted city hall, the Harris County Attorneyโs Office and Houston police. Aguirre said the incessant alarm and the strobe lights beaming through her bedroom window is taking a toll mentally.
