Texas Bowl canceled because of coronavirus concerns
HOUSTON – The Mercari Texas Bowl has been canceled because of concerns over the coronavirus. The New Year’s Eve matchup between the Arkansas Razorbacks and the TCU Horned Frogs was set to be played at NRG Stadium. According to PigTrail Nation, Head Coach Sam Pittman said the Razorbacks had no positive COVID-19 tests on his team. “While we are disappointed in canceling this year’s game, we look forward to hosting both the Texas Kickoff and Texas Bowl next season,” David Fletcher, executive director of the Texas Bowl, said in a statement issued on Twitter. Those refunds will be processed through the vendor through which the tickets were purchased.

The game-tying drive ended when Tune threw an 18-yard scoring pass to Bryson Smith with 28 seconds to go. Brady White responded to lead Memphis (7-3, 5-3 American Athletic Conference) on a 5-play, 46-yard drive to set up Patterson. With the win, Memphis finished a second consecutive season undefeated at home for the first time in program history.

Michigan-Ohio State game canceled over COVID-19 concerns
Michigan and Ohio State will not play this weekend due to the number of COVID-19 cases continuing to rise in the Wolverine’s program. The cancellation puts Ohio State at five games total on the season. Per the Big Ten, six games are needed to participate in the conference championship game against Northwestern. With Purdue pausing team activities and possibly having to opt out of its game against Indiana, a Hoosiers-Buckeyes game could happen. With the Aggies’ game against Ole Miss being canceled, many are calling for an Ohio State-Aggies match up.

The school issued a statement Monday evening announcing the game was postponed due to COVID-19 issues. “The opportunity to reschedule the game will be contingent on any cancellation of games currently scheduled for December 19 due to COVID-19, otherwise the game will not be played and would be declared a no-contest,” the statement read.
Rice stuns No. 15 Marshall
HOUSTON – Rice was the underdog heading into Saturday’s road game against a 7-0 Marshall team. Not only because Marshall is ranked, but because Rice was without their starting quarterback Mike Collins and wide receiver Austin Trammel. But somehow, someway... Mike Bloomgren and the Owls stunned Marshall with a 20-0 win on the road. The Owls defense held Marshall’s offense to just 245 yards. According to the school, Rice shut out a ranked opponent for the first time since 1960.

(AP) – Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson combined for 311 rushing yards and six touchdowns and Texas beat Kansas State 69-31 on Saturday afternoon. Robinson scored on runs of 12, 30 and 75 yards Saturday. “I knew it would take time to learn to get a feel for the game,” Robinson said. “Credit to Texas because they were ready to play today,” Kansas State coach Chris Klieman said. “I’m excited about that and for our players to send them out with another winning season,” Herman said.

Marshall: The Thundering Herd were shut out for the first time since 2000 and for the first time at their home stadium. The Thundering Herd had been scheduled to play at Florida International the same night, but Conference USA announced Saturday that the game has been canceled.

Kellen Mond passed for two touchdowns and ran for a third and the fifth-ranked Aggies scored 17 points in the fourth quarter of a come-from-behind 31-20 victory over Auburn on Saturday. Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher wasn't interested in speculating on how the win might affect his team's playoff chances. He completed 18 of 23 for 196 yards, highlighted by two TDs to Jalen Wydermyer, and ran for 60 yards. The Aggies ran for a season-high 313 yards and held a 16-minute advantage in time of possession. Auburn: Was outgained 168-21 in the fourth quarter.

Former Manvel HS quarterbacks developed special bond as they finish college careers in Florida
HOUSTON Miami quarterback DEriq King and Florida Gator quarterback Kyle Trask have a unique relationship. The two QBs attended Manvel High School where King was the starting quarterback and Trask was the back-up for the Mavericks. While King went on to become the starting quarterback at the University of Houston, Trask went on to Florida as the backup. Because of Trasks fierce competitive nature and his ability to stay readyin his junior year, he took over the starting quarterback position after Feleipe Franks got injured. So Trask and King started their high school careers in Texas and will finish their college careers in the state of Florida.
