HOUSTON – The Houston Cougars began fall camp practices Wednesday morning with a new sense of pride in their program. The accountability of the coaching staff and the players is more of a priority than last year.
Defensive Coordinator Austin Armstrong stated that if his defense gives up 40 points per game this upcoming season, he’ll be working at H-E-B next season.
Nick Mantas is an award-winning sports reporter who joined the KPRC 2 Sports Team in September of 2025, coming from channel 2's sister station, KSAT in San Antonio. Before reporting on the San Antonio Spurs for two years, he spent three years in Lansing, Michigan, and one year in Abilene, Texas. He's Greek & a native of Brookline, Massachusetts.
